Today starts with a tax technical training session with other graduates. Practical examples and lots of discussion, no lectures!
10.30am and I’m on the coffee run. Drink it in the staff cafe on our floor, overlooking the harbour. Grab some fresh fruit from the basket just being delivered.
Meeting with the Partner I work with results in doing legal research into the Limited Partnership Bill currently before Parliament. I’ll be drafting a memo for our client explaining how the new Bill may impact on their business.
Stretch my legs with a stroll down to the waterfront for lunch today.
A trip to client premises with a Senior Manager to review the company’s tax affairs as part of a due diligence project - we’re acting for potential buyers of the company. There’s also a team from PwC Assurance there, so this client really gets to know PwC people!
Mid afternoon and back at the office. Set about organising a team lunch to welcome new arrivals and to farewell the Summer Interns of the Mergers & Acquisitions and International Tax teams.
Last couple of hours today spent on a conference call to our due diligence client to report progress, then catch up with people in other areas across the Firm working on the same transaction to see where we can help with specialist tax advice.
6:00 and I’m out of the office and into the gym. No team drinks or client events to lure me away today!
