Streetwise Partners: Bridging Corporations and the Community
Helping Others Excel
For over seven years, the New York office of PwC has provided space and computers to Streetwise Partners: Bridging Corporations and the Community. Founded By PwC Alumni, this welfare-to-work program serves underemployed and unemployed individuals. Every fall and spring, Streetwise Partners hosts 15 Saturday mentoring sessions in the PwC office for over 40 clients enrolled in the program. The clients are trained on topics such as resume writing, interview skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, elevator pitch, career planning and appropriate office etiquette.
Several PwC and other corporate volunteers serve as the mentors and job coaches in the program and donate over 50 hours of their time to help the clients in the program graduate and find jobs. At this time, over 70% of the clients in the program go on to find employment. Our goal is to have 100% of the clients successfully graduate and find jobs in 2006.
