Senior Tax Consultant
I first came to PricewaterhouseCoopers over a year ago, after taking part in PwC's Tax Contest and receiving an internship offer. Having successfully completed my undergraduate internship, I had an opportunity to return to the firm after graduation. From the very start I knew I would want to work in tax and legal services, as it involves dealing with multiple tasks simultaneously (we have four or five active projects at any given time), which keeps the job challenging and exciting, as no project is like another. From the very first days I was assigned to a coach, who is guiding me in my career development, provides overall guidance and helps me prioritise my tasks.
My coach has always listened to my opinions and concerns. Working together, we developed a list of training courses that I would attend. Working with my coach boosted my confidence, as it is very important to know that there is someone who is always there to give you valuable advice or help you out in a difficult situation. Over the past year I had an opportunity to take part in client meetings and work on a number of projects, large and small. Working on big projects, of course, is the highlight of our job, as you can see the work of your colleagues and understand how people from various departments, who might have different perspectives, combine their efforts and come to a common conclusion.
As a tax associate I research tax legislation and help new interns to better accommodate and feel at home in the firm. I can always come to our senior staff for advice, and quite often such informal sessions help me solve complex problems or put things in perspective. PricewaterhouseCoopers gives me an excellent opportunity to travel and see the country. When on client assignments, working together as a team gives us a chance to get to know one another. Over just a year with the firm I made a lot of new friends, and I can tell you that we have a great team here in TLS, everybody's very friendly and always willing to help. We will be happy to see new people here in our department!
