Months of planning in Singapore culminated in a dream team that included assignees from PwC’s Canada, China, Germany, Mexico and US firms while hundreds more in our Singapore and Shanghai firms raised funds and sorted through book donations in a show of support.
Despite stormy weather, the volunteers worked in high spirits, inspired by the children’s infectious laughter and enthusiasm. Over a ten-day period, they set up a library with over 5,800 books, painted vivid murals, conducted English lessons and sculpted balloons.
As Nora Wu, PwC Shanghai Office Lead Partner, affirmed, “We are acting upon our belief in responsible leadership.” In the process, precious friendships and memories were forged for all the children, teachers and volunteers, enriching the way we work and live.
“Through such outreach programmes, our people will be able to give back to the community while developing their sense of purpose, empathy and compassion,” said Gautam Banerjee, Executive Chairman of PwC Singapore and A7 Leadership Team Chairman.
