Moshe Peress is the partner in charge of the Technical Unit – Accounting of Kesselman & Kesselman, Certified Public Accountants, which is part of the international accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
The Technical Unit – Accounting is responsible, inter alia, for the studying and researching of: technical material and developments relating thereto, both in Israel and abroad; knowledge management for the firm’s partners, professional staff and clients; publishing bulletins and memorandums relating to professional topics; and reviewing financial statements and prospectuses prior to their publication and submission to authorities in Israel and abroad. The Technical Unit – Accounting has professional knowledge and expertise on IFRS and US GAAP, in addition to Israeli GAAP.
Moshe serves as a partner in the international firm’s Global Accounting Consulting Services Group (Global ACS), where he sits on the panel that focuses on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The Global ACS Group, a select professional forum, has approximately 60 partners and 200 professional staff, situated in various locations throughout the world. The principal functions of the Global ACS Group are to determine the international firm’s (PwC’s) position on various professional issues, to provide solutions on relevant professional issues, to approve reports before their submission to various authorities throughout the world, to participate in the firm’s knowledge and accumulated experience and to ensure the consistent and equitable application of IFRS within the international firm of PwC.
Moshe is also a partner in the international firm’s Global Capital Markets Group (GCMG), which has more than 300 professionals on its staff (including over 50 partners) and has its main offices in New York. The GCMG provides professional services to foreign companies in relation to their IPO’s on the world’s capital markets (mainly, in the U.S.A. and in Europe), as well as to foreign companies that have already issued securities on these markets. The Group has expert staff located throughout the world (e.g., in the U.S.A., Europe, Australia, the Far East and Latin America). Moshe, who worked in New York for the GCMG during 1996, is the Group’s partner with special responsibility for Middle East operations.
Moshe is a member of the Israel Accounting Standards Board.
In addition, Moshe lectures to undergraduate accountancy students at Tel-Aviv University’s Faculty of Management. He is also in charge of, and gives lectures in, the 4th year financial accounting courses that prepare students to sit for the exams of the Israeli Auditors Council.
Moshe holds a BA in accounting and economics (magna cum laude) and a MA in Economics (magna cum laude), specializing in business economics, both from Tel-Aviv University.
