Global initiatives: US: Full Circle

Staying connected with the firm

Many people, especially women, will at some point in their career be faced with a tough decision: do they come back to work or stay at home to care for children or parents? Our US firm has launched an innovative programme to support its people through this transition.

Full Circle allows people who have decided to separate from the firm for an extended period of time to stay connected to PwC for up to five years. As well as being able to stay in touch with colleagues, peers and friends at the firm while they are gone, they can take advantage of numerous PwC resources.

The programme supports the message that leaving PwC is not only OK, but that the firm will do everything possible to help women return.

PwC US pays for Full Circle participants to retain their professional credentials, and actively encourages them to join in with PwC training events on best practice and new technology. Each participant also benefits from a senior PwC coach who works with them to help them feel valued and connected whilst absent from the day-to-day workplace. And participants are welcome at events such as office parties and networking and alumni meetings.

“I kept in touch with people informally while I was on maternity leave. They were the ones who informed me of my options. Without their help, I don’t think I’d be back. Without them I wouldn’t have known what was possible. You can come back gradually. You don’t have to rush back and you don’t have to worry that your career will be jeopardized.”
