About South Africa

Ambition and vision
Our ambition is to be the world’s leading professional services organisation, thereby solving complex business problems for clients in global, national and local markets. In order to succeed in this ambition, we must grow and develop both as individuals and as a business – our firm’s core values of Leadership, Teamwork and Excellence help us to achieve this growth.

Corporate social investment
PricewaterhouseCoopers Southern Africa believes in empowering people as well as entire communities. Our primary focus is education and busin ess skills development, enabling job creation for the country. The firm spends more than R15 million and more than 8000 hours on corporate social investment annually, allowing major staff involvement and skills sharing.
This we achieve through:
  • Infrastructure development
  • Developing chartered accountants
  • Providing business skills for communities
Employment equity
We see employment equity as a process designed to create equal employment opportunities for all, and believe that it is more than a social priority; it is a business imperative. It must create a diverse organisation, one that has unique strength and character.

EmpowerDEX rating
PwC empowerDEX rating - click to enlarge Following an intensive audit, ratings agency EmpowerDEX has given our firm an “A” (a good Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment contributor) rating for our BEE efforts and initiatives.

This rating encompasses all aspects of BEE, namely ownership, management control, employment equity, skills development, preferential procurement and enterprise development. An “A” rating recognises that we are a good Broad Based BEE contributor, and will enable our clients to claim 100% of their spend with us for BEE scorecard purposes. This is an achievement of which we are extremely proud, more so given the fact that it is an improvement on the “BBB” rating received in 2004.

Commercial equity
In an attempt to address the issue of black economic empowerment, PricewaterhouseCoopers Southern Africa has embraced the following activities:
  • Promoting commercial equity through co-operative ventures
  • Creating job opportunities for more people
  • Creating a better business environment
