PricewaterhouseCoopers has a long-term commitment to supporting the sustainability of the communities in which we operate.
Over the past five years, the PwC Foundation has developed sustainable and impactful partnerships with 21 charity partners. These partnerships have developed from the earlier days of charitable donations and individual actions, to deeper engagement of our staff and working together with our partners to impact on broader social issues.
To us, the relationship is not just about providing financial support, but valuable expertise, resources, advice and logistical support – leveraging the core competencies of PwC to make a sustainable difference. It is also about our staff developing as responsible leaders, and helping to make a tangible difference.
We currently have 21 charity partners that are aligned with the causes our people want to support – health, poverty, youth, environment and children. We survey our staff every three to five years to ensure our charity partner relationships remain aligned to their passion and focus.

The breadth of our charity partner relationships can be outlined via four key initiatives:
1. PwC People Giving - "Helping charities achieve their financial plans"
PwC People Giving allows our staff to donate to our 21 charity partners through ongoing monthly payroll deductions. The firm matches staff contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis. 100% of contributions are given to support specific charity partner programs.
2. PwC in the Community - "Hands-on community help"
3. PwC Capacity Building - "Delivering value by sharing our expertise"
Capacity building is PwC’s strategic and focused approach to the way we utilise our skills and expertise in the community. Opportunities are evaluated against a set of criteria that supports the objectives of the Foundation and takes into consideration the position of PwC. We also facilitate and encourage our senior people to take up leadership roles as Directors with selected not-for-profit organisations.
4. PwC Corporate/Community Leadership - "Developing leaders with impact"
The Corporate / Community Leadership initiative focuses on developing long term sustainable partnerships within the not-for-profit sector. It also aims to develop responsible leaders both within PwC and the community via various co-coaching and mentoring programs.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has collaborated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia to launch the PricewaterhouseCoopers Transparency Award which is designed to recognise the quality and transparency of reporting in the not-for-profit sector. The winning organisation will benefit from raising its profile as an organisation with a proven commitment to transparent reporting. It will also receive $20,000 towards the training and development of its people.
