Sasha Riser-Kositsky focuses on India, with particular emphasis on state-central dynamics and sectoral economic reforms. His expertise includes India’s mining, hydrocarbons, electricity, telecom, pharmaceutical, and retail sectors.
Prior to joining Eurasia Group, Sasha completed a BA (honors) in South Asia Studies, Comparative Politics and Diplomatic History at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from the US Department of Education for study of Hindi. He worked as a researcher assistant at the university’s Center for the Advanced Study of India and his honors thesis examined the socioeconomic developmental benefits of state bifurcation in India. Sasha has travelled extensively across India conducting primary research, and interned with a social enterprise incubator in rural Rajasthan. He speaks basic Hindi.
