Viljar Kähari heads up the Banking and Finance practice of PwC Legal in Estonia. His main areas of expertise for the past 13 years have been banking and finance, insolvency and corporate restructuring, dispute resolution and financial litigation.
Viljar advises public and private sector clients including international commercial and investment banks, funds, fund management companies, lenders and borrowers on a wide range of corporate, financial and real estate transactions.
Viljar started his professional career in 1999 as lawyer of risk capital unit with SEB bank. In 2006 he started as a Banking and Finance attorney with SORAINEN where he advised a number of high-worth and complex finance cases involving establishment of collaterals and enforcement of rights over different assets. Viljar has also co-managed several sophisticated international project finance cases.
His financial law experience includes advising clients in establishment, registration and regulatory compliance of credit institutions and branches of foreign banks, management companies, pension funds as well as other regulated financial market participants.
From 2009 until joining PwC, Viljar served as Head of Debt Collection and Restructuring at Nordea Bank in Estonia. His team advised the bank in complex loan restructuring and debt collection transactions and in different legal proceedings. Viljar also managed several investment and property management companies for the bank.
Viljar has written articles and given trainings and lectures related to banking, restructuring and insolvency issues.
