Project/Program Management (PPM) Implementation and Maturity Support Services

PwC supported a client with the design and phased implementation of a customized Program Management Office (PMO) to integrate effective program and project management (PPM) across the organization. As part of this initiative, we supported our client in documenting many key PPM processes and procedures through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quick reference guides, and process maps. Our team focused on several key areas, including change management, process development/improvement, training, communications and stakeholder management, performance management and reporting, and Microsoft SharePoint site development. For example, our team created and implemented a change control process for the organization to officially document key programmatic decisions of the change control board. To assist the client in standardizing the client’s approach to contracts management, we developed a SOP in coordination with process owners to capture required elements of effective contracts management. Additionally, our team created an executive dashboard for performance metric reporting, which allows the organization’s leadership to view timely performance data for all programs, projects, contracts, systems, and operations under their purview. In addition to developing these PM processes and tools, our team also developed training courses for the client staff to introduce them to the new processes and facilitate effective change management to the new processes. We also conducted in-depth specialized training for the client’s PMO staff to prepare them for assuming responsibility for PMO operations.

Additionally, we are helping the client’s senior leadership address organizational challenges uncovered during the PMO development and implementation, such as the need for annual strategic planning, individual performance planning and measurement, a human capital strategy for the organization, knowledge management and succession planning for key individuals nearing retirement, and implementation of legislative mandates. PwC’s support has enhanced the client’s ability to deliver organization-wide projects and mission critical support contracts on schedule and within budget, report useful performance metrics, align projects and operations with over-arching strategic goals and programmatic goals, and, through its PMO, to integrate proven program and project management principles into the organization’s operations.
