Smart solutions for smart grids A smart grid in its simplest form delivers electricity from suppliers to consumers using technology that allows consumers to control appliances from their homes (via smart meters and sensors), to save energy and reduce cost. This presents huge opportunities for energy companies in addition to those in other sectors - technology, consumer goods (particularly electronics, white goods manufacturers) etc. The early stage of infrastructure development however presents companies with tough challenges around the timing of investment, choosing technology partners etc. We look at how to maximise opportunities in this area. |
