Roman Pavloušek appointed Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers´ Advisory Services

January 31, 2008 - Roman Pavloušek (36) was appointed Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers´ Advisory Services in the Czech Republic. In his new role, he will continue to develop the Internal Audit Services (IAS) practice in the Czech Republic and the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region and represent the CEE network in the Global IAS leadership.

Roman Pavloušek's photo"In response to accounting scandals such as the Enron one, internal audit expectations and practice in the United States and other advanced countries have changed dramatically over the past few years. With introduction of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, internal audit has increased in importance and has quickly strengthened its position within the organisation, which is connected with increased demand for quality, effectivity, independence and objectivity.

However, it can be expected that in the future internal audit will not be sufficient simply with strong emphasis on control mechanisms. Internal audit leaders will have to continue to redefine anticipated benefits and provide their organisations with more assurance, especially in the area of effective risk management.

PricewaterhouseCoopers is one of the most prominent companies advising and assisting internal audit departments with how to face new challenges and actively provide strategic value to proprietors, management and other interested parties", said Roman Pavloušek.

Pavloušek has been with PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 11 years. During his stay in the US in 2002-2005 he worked in the Internal Audit Services group, serving mainly clients in the automotive and utilities industries. He led major projects related to setup of the IA function and SOX implementation, and participated in a number of IA quality assurance reviews for top US companies.

Before his secondment, he worked in audit and assurance services at PricewaterhouseCoopers Czech Republic, leading external audit teams for companies in a number of industries, most notably automotive, consumer and industrial product manufacturing, and participated in a number of projects focused on improving internal controls in industries such as telecommunications and technology.

He graduated from the Technical University in Brno. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the United Kingdom. He speaks Czech and is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Russian. Roman is married and enjoys travelling and sport.
