Fundamental level - F1 Accountant in Business (AB)

The aim of F1 is to develop knowledge and understanding of the business environment and the influence this has on how organisations and accountants operate, and of the role of the accountant and other key business functions in contributing to an efficient, effective and ethical organisation, and to build knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of effective management. F1 is the basis for the professional level papers P1 Professional Accountant and P3 Business Analysis.

Content: Business organization structure, governance, and management; Key environmental influences and constraints on business and accounting; History and role of accounting in business; Specific functions of accounting and internal financial control; Leading and managing individuals and teams; Recruiting and developing effective employees.

Zoltan has a degree in law and has been a member of ACCA since 2002. His work experience includes various corporate sector finance jobs for over 10 years, ranging from entry level jobs to the finance director position.

Mike qualified as a Certified Accountant (ACCA) in 1981 whilst working as an audit manager with Gillian and Co. He then formed his own practice and set up a finance company before joining the MMU University in 1986. His teaching interests are corporate finance, treasury management and derivative instruments, and this latter area is also where his research interests lie. He is currently a Chief Examiner for the Corporate Finance Qualification (The Corporate Finance Qualification has been developed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in partnership with the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants).
