On Tuesday 18 December, JUDr. Marie Vodičková, director of the Fund for Children in Need, took over our financial donation in the amount of CZK 108 000. The symbolic cheque was handed over by Jiří Moser. FOD, which we have supported already 9 years already, was again the most preferred organization in PwC Christmas Charity 2012.
PwC has a long-standing tradition of investing in and developing our communities and during the last 11 years we have distributed CZK 5 million.
We decided to give money, funds that were allocated for buying gifts for clients, to those who need it the most. We will also continue this approach this year and we believe that more and more companies will follow our example.
We are celebrating the 11th anniversary of our traditional Christmas Charity, where any of our employees can contribute financially to support the selected non-profit organisations. Although the overall amount is combined from several resources, the major one is the financial contributions from the employees and PwC’s matching donation. The Christmas Charity is also augmented by a special Christmas fundraising breakfast where PwC volunteers sell their home-made goods to their colleagues. The proceeds from the event are then added to the charity collection. The last but not least contribution to this collection is the amount that was allocated for buying gifts for clients during the previous year.
We have managed to raise CZK 400 thousand this year, which we will divide between 8 selected non-profit organisations. The first 5 organisations are our long-term partners and last 3 were nominated by our employees during the internal voting. The final split of donations reflects preferences of individual contributors:
