Global successes pave new ways

The knowledge, devotion and intensive efforts of our people have been rewarded at the exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  Three out of six worldwide first places, which were gained by trainee chartered accountants of PwC Cyprus, reflect the quality, professionalism and training which Cyprus possesses for the accounting profession.

  • Vasso Kakota - First place and the Watts Prize in the Audit and Assurance paper
  • Elena Kanna - First place and the Little Prize in the Taxation paper
  • Denis Gulyarenko - First place and the Spicer and Pegler Prize in the Financial Accounting paper

A special award ceremony was organised to honour the three trainee accountants.  Present at the ceremony to congratulate the award winners and present the prizes were the Minister of Finance, Mr Charilaos Stavrakis, the Counsellor of the Embassy of Russia, Mr Victor Morozov, the Chief Executive Officer of the ICAEW, Mr Michael Izza, the President of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Syrimis, representatives of the students’ universities, the President of the Council of the University of Nicosia, Dr Nicos Peristianis, instructors of Intercollege and PwC Academy, as well as responsible partners and their coaches from PwC.
