When I started my career at PwC I was just like you, a student, looking for a fulfilling experience and great opportunities. Now I've been here for over 25 years. During these years I've had the fortune of being exposed to many new and exciting initiatives. A couple of years ago I participated in an eight week leadership development program in Laos, working with local social entrepreneurs bringing solar power into remote villages. With my working partners from PwC's offices in Paris and Delhi, we successfully delivered a program that continues to promote and support corporate responsibility and responsible leadership amongst local entrepreneurs. Some of the most exciting things about PwC are opportunities like these. Even though I've worked in countless different industries around the world, I can honestly say that I'm still learning and still challenged each and every day.

PwC BC Region's two offices have seen unprecedented growth in the past six years, with rapid expansion in all areas of our practice. Our Vancouver office is conveniently situated on the waterfront of the downtown area at the terminus of the four major modes of commuter transit, making our location easy to reach for our teams living in the suburbs. Our recently relocated Fraser Valley office is now located in the Surrey City Central building, allowing us to serve our Fraser Valley clients better.

In addition to our Audit and Assurance Group, our Tax Group has been certified as a CA Training Office since September 2007. Continuous training and development is an integral part of our culture. We offer programs such as the National UFE Preparation Program, Assurance 1 and IFRS Training to expand your knowledge and skills. We believe we have a responsibility to share our skills, expertise and resources not only with our clients, but with the communities in which we live and work. We encourage everyone to participate in volunteering and green activities with local charitable organizations and our environmental committee. Through our work with the PwC Canada Foundation along with other fundraising activities, in 2010-2011, 45% of our people took the opportunity to actively engage in our communities and learn more about the causes we support. We contributed 1,973 volunteer hours to 312 volunteering activities. In the past year, we raised just over $500,000 for our community through staff fundraising campaigns such as:

• S.U.C.C.E.S.S. - Walk with the Dragon
• BC Lions Society - Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay for the Kids
• Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes
• Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver - Bowling for Big Brothers Classic

Working at our BC Region offices is more than just a job. At our monthly pub nights, you get a chance to kick back and socialize with people on your team and meet people from other areas of the firm. We also have regular events to celebrate our UFE writers, promotions and holidays. Our annual ski trip and sports teams will keep you fit, and our corporate rowing team and PwC Hockey Tournaments will help you maintain that competitive edge. PwC's learning and development programs are designed to support you through the entire journey to the Uniform Final Examination (UFE).

Led by professional instructors and markers from the PASS program, our extensive In-House UFE Preparation Program includes 37 days of training and paid leave to prepare you for the UFE. Support is also offered through our UFE Mentor Program, where you will be paired with a recent successful UFE writer for one-on-one guidance.
