The B.C. Techmap™ provides a cartographic representation of the technology community within British Columbia.
Laid out like a map, the B.C. Techmap™ can be used to make observations on the key industry drivers or to trace the transfer of principal employees, technology and/or majority ownership between companies.
How it was put together
The B.C. Techmap™ was created through a complex research process that included interviews with key industry contacts and a thorough verification of industry genealogy and company information.
To prepare the B.C. Techmap™, researchers examined and compiled data for companies in the following technology segments:
- Network and Communications
Including telecommunications, computer networking, information highway equipment and services and wireless communications companies.
- Software and Diversified Technology
Including developers or distributors of software and diversified technologies.
- Semiconductors
Including semiconductor and semiconductor equipment companies.
- Aerospace, Systems Consultants, Systems and Peripherals
Including designers, manufacturers, implementers of systems, consultants, instrument testers, peripherals, storage systems and electronic equipment companies.
- Internet
Including Internet service enablers, Internet content providers and intranet technology developers.
- Life Sciences
Including biotechnology, chemical and environmental sciences, agricultural biology, and medical devices and instruments companies.
