With the Canadian government proactively trying to attract business investment into Canada, foreign companies who have business in Canada often send employees here. These foreign employers are subject to Canadian payroll withholding and reporting requirements. However, in the past, many organizations did not comply with these rules and the Canada Revenue Agency did not strongly enforce these rules.
The landscape has changed. The CRA has increased its audit activities in this area — and has begun enforcing the rules for even short-term business travellers into Canada. This podcast series is designed to help companies doing business or looking to do business in Canada understand Canadian payroll compliance requirements given the increased scrutiny by the CRA.
There will be an episode release every Tuesday in this four-part podcast series. Please check back for new episode.
