Tax Memo: Canada Signs Four New Tax Information Exchange Agreements (TIEAs)

Earlier this month, Canada signed Tax Information Exchange Agreements (TIEAs) with four jurisdictions – Bermuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, The Bahamas and Saint Lucia – bringing the total signed to five. From a Canadian income tax perspective, the signing of the new TIEAs is important because it means that access to Canada’s exempt surplus regime will be extended to the above jurisdictions.
