Getting you IFRS ready
The transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is one of the biggest changes that the Canadian accounting profession has ever experienced. As a new accounting professional entering the workforce, you will be impacted by IFRS. While you may have already begun your journey to become “IFRS literate” through your university studies, PwC has many tools to assist you, both in preparing you to be successful in the UFE and to be able to serve clients effectively.
In your first couple of years at the firm, we know that one of your main priorities is to successfully complete the UFE. As Canada transitions to IFRS, so will the UFE syllabus.
We’re working closely with universities and provincial institutes to ensure the PwC UFE program complements the knowledge and skills delivered through their programs. As a UFE student, your program will include technical IFRS learning and the opportunity to write mock cases incorporating IFRS topics.
In addition to the UFE program, you will participate in the Canadian IFRS Curriculum on an ongoing basis to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to effectively serve clients. The firm aligns learning initiatives with business goals and acknowledges the importance of sharing knowledge gained throughout the course of work and on-the-job training, as well as through formal learning opportunities.
Included in the curriculum are: various e-learn programs providing a foundation knowledge; technical workshops addressing practical application and more complex IFRS accounting matters; regular update training sessions, highlighting hot topics and new accounting standards; and IFRS book clubs to facilitate knowledge sharing of real scenarios faced by clients. Consistent with the UFE program, the Canadian IFRS Curriculum is also reviewed and updated regularly for new standards, guidance and hot topics.
