Training to put you at ease as a new associate, helping to develop the knowledge and skills you need
Assurance 1 is an eight-month program to equip you for your new role as an associate in our Audit and Assurance Group with PricewaterhouseCoopers. This program helps you to get you ready for your job using advanced learning techniques, such as e-learning, action learning (in small groups) as well as classroom-based coaching.
In the first week of Assurance 1, you will learn how PwC completes audits. This involves the PwC audit approach, from business process and controls to substantiating evidence, including analytical procedures and test of details. You will also learn how we document an audit file and use the latest technology to complete this documentation.
During the second week you will have an opportunity to audit the property, plant and equipment and cash processes. You will go through every stage of the audit process, from initial engagement briefings to performing diagnostics. This is where you test your skills and receive valuable feedback from your instructor and "clients" before you head out to your first "real" engagement.
Once you have had some audit experience, you will meet periodically with your development team, a group of up to eight of your peers led by senior associates and managers with extensive training and audit experience. At these meetings, you will revisit areas taught in your initial two weeks of training. You will also cover new material on a just-in-time basis; for example, you will cover material on inventory counts just prior to going out and completing an inventory count.
The development team's curriculum is flexible to meet the specific needs of your environment. Your team members and team manager will become invaluable resources for ongoing support and advice. We are confident that Assurance 1 will provide you with the skills and support you need to succeed and feel confident in your first year with the firm.
