Do your CIO and CSO understand each other?

During the spring and summer of 2008, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) conducted a study to examine the level of alignment between the IT and sustainability functions within a sample of Canadian organizations.

PwC interviewed Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs) from thirteen organizations, most of which are based in Western Canada. The interviews consisted of a structured set of questions, and results were summarized and interpreted by PwC professionals including senior IT, sustainability and operational effectiveness advisory consultants.

Through our advisory work with clients, we are encountering more touch points in organizations between the IT and sustainability functions, and believe that there is opportunity to further develop their level of mutual understanding.

This white paper provides key findings of the study and offers insights into how CIOs and CSOs could work together to improve both sustainability and IT results for their organizations.
