Developments: Enhanced CRA SR&ED Administration

The Federal government plans to make significant changes to the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Tax Incentive Program starting April 1, 2010. The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of State announced the modifications on January 13, 2010.
The improvements target the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA’s) administration of the SR&ED program, and aim to benefit claimants. The enhancements likely result from the 2009 Federal budget promise to upgrade administration of the SR&ED program and make the process less burdensome for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
