CLIENT: A $1billion plus national big box retailer.
The retailer identified an opportunity to reduce its energy costs, despite the fact that many existing stores were old and capital was scarce. Prior to this opportunity, PwC’s Retail Consulting Services had been successfully involved in other cost-reduction work with this client and due to our track record and energy knowledge, was asked to lead this new initiative.
To ensure that we conducted a thorough review, our team engaged in a ground up review of the existing energy management program and processes. This included a detailed utility consumption analysis, benchmarking of energy usage to prioritize stores for project initiatives, and brainstorming the scope of work to reduce energy consumption.
We collaborated with management to identify energy awareness opportunities and government incentives. Additional pilots were conducted to validate that the client could indeed translate projected financials from our business cases into real dollar savings.
