Learn about PwC’s charitable involvement in Alberta.

Canadian Blood Services

PwC’s Edmonton office is proud to be a member of the Partners for Life program with Canadian Blood Services. We have set a goal to reach a donation pledge of 50 units by Dec. 31, 2011. Donations will go to help those suffering with cancer, burns, transplants, general surgery, accident victims or rare diseases.

Alberta Children’s Hospital

PwC committed a new five-year pledge commitment to the Childhood Cancer Collaborative project for the Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH). With this support, we are providing new hope with higher survival rates and improved quality of life for children with cancer. The innovative and enhanced treatments and standards of care ACH develops will be far-reaching to children with other medically unresponsive chronic and life-threatening diseases. It will also have an international impact and make an invaluable contribution to cancer knowledge and treatment that extends to adults.

The GHG Reduction Summit

PwC is proud to be the sole sponsor of the 2011 GHG Reduction Summit, which is hosted by the Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC). The event will be held in Edmonton at the Marriott River Cree on May 15-17. The CCEMC’s mandate is to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to assist in adapting to climate change. This event will influence the future of clean tech innovation not only in Alberta, but across Canada and the world, as many eyes are on the province as we take a leadership role in this important endeavour.

Joe’s Team

Joe's Team is a fundraiser sponsored by PwC in cooperation with the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre that will be held on Sunday, June 19th, 2011. Joe Finley, a PwC alumnus, began a difficult fight with cancer in 2004, and lost his six-year battle with the disease in late 2010. Despite the physical and emotional toll of this long and extremely aggressive cancer treatment, Joe fulfilled a life-long goal and completed his first triathlon in 2006. To help others "feel the way I felt when I crossed the finish line of my first triathlon,” he created Joe's Team, an innovative fundraising initiative that has raised more than $3.5 million in four years.

Last year more than 50 PwC staff, partners, and clients in Ontario joined nearly 300 people in what was the biggest Joe's Team event to date. This year, Joe's Team is coming to Calgary.
