The last quarter of the year saw a significant jump in M&A activity in the North American Pharma & Life Sciences industry, with 84 announced deals.
While the number of deals increased by 33% from the prior quarter and 58% from Q1 2010, disclosed deal value fell sharply to $19.5 billion from Q3’s $30.1 billion, partly due to the combination of an increase in the number of “mid-market” transactions and corporate carve-outs of non-core business units or brand.
