Susan Allen is currently on secondment with the Global Assurance Quality Review Group of PwC where she provides oversight, guidance and support to a portfolio of member firms in the network on the quality of their assurance practice.

With over 30 years in the Audit and Assurance Group working in offices in PwC US and PwC Canada, Susan has extensive experience with IFRS, ASPE, US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations. She specializes in the technology and consumer products industries with both publicly-listed companies on TSX, NASDAQ and NYSE, and privately-owned or venture-backed companies. She has held various leadership positions throughout her career including Technology, Infocom, Communications and Entertainment Industry Leader, National Emerging Company Services Practice Leader and Assurance Practice Human Resources Leader.

Reporting to the CEO, Susan chaired the Women in Leadership/Retention of Women initiative for PwC Canada from 2008-2011, represented PwC Canada on the firm’s Global Gender Advisory Council and is a founding member of PwC’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council.

Susan has significant governance experience, having worked in various executive capacities on volunteer boards for over 20 years and having recently completed an eight-year term as an elected member of the PwC Canadian Partnership Board and a four-year term with the PwC Global Board. Susan was the first women to be elected to the global board by 9,000 of her partner peers in the PwC network.

Susan has a BA from the University of Toronto, is an FCPA and a licensed CPA (Ill) (Ca). Susan spent two years in Silicon Valley during the tech boom and is the founder and author of the highly successful annual Vision to Reality – CEO Software Conference and the related thought leadership publication Report on Emerging Canadian Software Companies: The CEO Perspective.

Susan is Catalyst Canada’s 2013 Business Leader Champion. The annual award honours individuals who champion diversity, are personally and visibly committed to the advancement of women, and who have incorporated the principles of equity and inclusion throughout their careers. She’s also a frequent keynote speaker for university, industry, client and firm events profiling PwC and the CA profession where she shares her career story and perspectives on work life flexibility, the business case for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, amongst other topics such as fraud, delivering distinctive client service, the importance of audit quality for the CA profession and the changing regulatory environment. Susan is a leader in the Foundation for the SickKids Industry Initiative and a member of United Way’s Women Gaining Ground.
