Steven Baum is a partner in the Toronto office of PwC Law LLP, a law firm affiliated with PwC Canada, and the Tax leader of PwC’s Banking and Capital Markets practice. He provides a broad range of income tax advice to clients, with particular emphasis on the income tax aspects of capital markets transactions, derivatives and financial instruments, and cross-border transactions for financial institution clients. He is recognized in Chambers Global Directory as a leading Canadian income tax practitioner.
Steven joined the firm as a partner in June 2009. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner in a major Canadian law firm for many years.
Steven has spoken and written on various taxation issues and has been an instructor in taxation at the Ontario Bar Admission Course and more recently Adjunct Professor and guest lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University. He received his BA from the University of Western Ontario and his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990 and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association and the American Bar Association (Taxation Section).
