Saul Plener is the National Managing Partner for Strategy and Operations at PwC Canada. He acts as the senior relationship partner on many of our client accounts included in our National Top Tier Program the top 60 accounts of the Canadian firm as well as having oversight of our offices in Montreal, the Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver and Alberta. Saul also oversees the firm’s strategy, innovation and operations initiatives.
A member of the firm’s Canadian Leadership Group since 2009, Saul previously led the firm's national Tax Services practice from 2009 to 2011 as the national Tax Services leader, specializing in international transfer pricing.
As a client service partner, Saul has extensive experience working with multinational clients to plan and implement tax-efficient transfer pricing strategies. This includes developing transfer pricing documentation for use in the event of an audit by federal and provincial tax authorities. He has also spoken on transfer pricing issues and authored articles on the topic. Saul was a member of the CICA Tax Policy Committee, which is comprised of senior tax professionals with some of Canada’s leading tax organizations and professional services firms. Saul has been actively involved with the CICA and the UFE program for more than 20 years, and has served as a CICA Board of Evaluators member from 2002 to 2005 and as Board chairman from 2007 to 2008. Before joining PwC, he practiced in the Canada Revenue Agency's large case audit division, where he was responsible for reviewing domestic and international transactions.
Saul has a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University in Toronto. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant. In 2009, he was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario for his achievements and leadership contributions to the community and the profession.
