Nochane Rousseau is a partner in the Audit and Assurance Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Montréal office.

He is the leader of the Mining industry for the province of Quebec. He has more than 14 years of experience in accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and finance. He focuses on the mining and pulp and paper industries. In addition, Nochane heads PwC’s Plan Nord initiative, which includes a multi-disciplinary team working to support our clients and various stakeholders in connection with the Plan Nord.

Nochane has led various audit engagements with mining companies; some of these were international engagements carried out in compliance with strict financial reporting requirements in Canada, the US, Surinam, Guyana, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Guatemala, Ecuador, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Niger, Morocco, Columbia and Congo, to name a few. He also offers audit and assurance services to major operating and exploration companies. He has in-depth knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS), as well as US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting rules for Canadian and US listed companies. Nochane has also taken part in a large number of engagements aimed at preparing investment documents and applying the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, National Instrument 52-109 and due diligence.

Nochane holds a BBA (Honours) as well as a Graduate Diploma (Honours) in Accounting from the Université Laval. He obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1999. Nochane is a member of the Quebec Mining Exploration Association (AEMQ) and the Canadian lnstitute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM). He is recognized as a leader in Quebec’s mining industry. He often gives media interviews on the subject of mining and is frequently asked to appear as a guest speaker.

Nochane Rousseau is a recognized professional in his field, which includes mining operations in Québec as well as the Plan Nord. In December 2011, he moderates a panel at a Canadian Institute conference on the challenges associated with the opportunities created by the Plan Nord. The media regularly seek out his views and analyses of current issues like the taxation of mining companies or current trends and the state of the mining industry, in order to benefit from his profound knowledge of current issues and outstanding skills in explaining complex matters.
