Mark Burnes is a director in PwC’s Risk Assurance practice, working within the Internal Audit team. He has acquired strong auditing and risk management skills throughout his career as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Public Accountant (Illinois). Mark has helped a number of clients develop, grow and improve their internal audit and ERM functions. His broad experience includes managing a number of internal audit co-sourcing and outsourcing engagements, conducting strategic operational audits, providing Sarbanes-Oxley and NI 52-109 testing and advisory services, and implementing enterprise risk management programs.

After articling with PwC’s Audit and Assurance practice, Mark spent six years in various government and private sector organizations before returning to PwC in December 2009. During his time away from PwC he worked as an Audit Supervisor with the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario, an Internal Audit Lead at Ontario Power Generation, and an Internal Audit Manager at MDS Inc.
