Lisa Coulman is a partner in the Audit and Assurance Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Toronto office. She is part of the firm’s Technology, Communications, Entertainment and Media industry groups.
With more than 15 years of diverse work experience, Lisa has extensive knowledge of US and Canadian GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). She identifies the differences between Canadian GAAP and IFRS and helps companies with the development of IFRS accounting policies and practices. She has also managed several Canadian and US public company filings.
Lisa has audited Canadian and US companies ranging from small enterprises to large global publicly traded corporations in Toronto and San Jose, California. Her conversion experience includes helping clients migrate from Canadian to US GAAP before an initial public offering and change accounting practices stemming from a restatement or a new presentation for a transaction. For each conversion project, she assisted with project plan and communications strategy development for key stakeholders within specified timelines.
She also helps companies with complex accounting matters including revenue recognition issues, business combinations, purchase price allocations, variable interest entities, share-based compensation and hedging. Lisa has also assisted clients with preparation for various debt offerings, pro forma financial statements, and initial public offerings as well as quarterly and annual filings with the Security Exchange Commission and Canadian securities regulators.
After starting her career in Toronto, Lisa spent three years as a manager with PwC’s National Accounting and Auditing group and two years as an audit senior manager in the firm’s San Jose office. She is a CA and CPA (Illinois).
Lisa has developed PwC publications on IFRS’ impact on the technology, entertainment and media industries. She also teaches PwC staff on IFRS conversion in Canada.
