Leigh Chalmers is a partner in the Audit and Assurance Group of PwC Canada working in the Toronto office. She has extensive experience providing audit and advisory services to the financial service industry.

Leigh leads our national IFRS initiative for the insurance industry and is working closely with her clients to understand the new standards and impact on their business.

Leigh has spent more than 18 years servicing clients in the insurance industry, including seven years as engagement leader. She has worked in all areas of insurance from property and casualty insurance, including mortgage and title insurance to Life and Health insurance and reinsurance.

Leigh develops and delivers internal and external courses to various associations in the insurance industry. She’s spoken at numerous Canadian Insurance Accountants’ Association events, the most recent topic being IFRS. Other events include the 2013 IBC financial affairs symposium; the 2013 RBC insurance conference; and the PwC Insurance EyeOpener Series. She’s partnered with LOMA Canada for the development and delivery of life insurance, financial and risk management courses. Leigh is also the Treasurer of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre.

Leigh earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University in 1995, obtained her CA designation in 1998 and admitted to the PwC Canada partnership in 2007.
