Kristian Knibutat is a partner with PwC Canada, working in the Toronto office.
Kristian has experience with a wide range of business issues and challenges including the valuation of businesses for tax planning, financing, restructuring, shareholder disputes, purchase and sale transactions, family law matters and purchase price allocations. He has also been involved with numerous due diligence reviews on the purchase of businesses.
Kristian has had a focus in recent years on the valuation of various forms of intellectual property. In addition, he has performed valuations in various industries including pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, distributors, real estate, investment holding companies, breweries, service industries, wine, education, financial services, hi-tech, wireless telecommunications and industrial product manufacturers.
Kristian has appeared as an expert witness in the Ontario Court and has presented papers on the valuation of intellectual property and fair value on financial reporting at various conferences sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV), Infonex, AIPPI, IPIC, Federated Press and The Canadian Institute.
He is an FCA and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), attaining the highest mark in Canada on the CICBV membership entrance exam.
He co-authored the chapter “Fairness Opinions” in the book Corporate Finance for Canadian Executives (2007) with PwC partner Helen Mallovy Hicks.
