Jason D. Durkin is a partner in the Tax practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Calgary office. He specializes in international tax services.
With over a decade of experience, Jason provides specialized advice to a wide range of clients in industries such as international shipping, rail, oilfield services, oil and gas, energy infrastructure, and offshore seismic. He works on corporate restructuring and efficient debt financing projects for both Canadian outbound and inbound investments. He also provides assistance to non-Canadian companies doing business in Canada and Canadian companies looking to invest abroad. Jason is currently involved with an international corporate reorganization effort and with a potential corporate emigration from Canada.
Jason has helped many multinational companies assess the location of corporate residency as well as the tax jurisdiction for subsidiaries operating in various other locations. He has helped to design and implement numerous successful cost-effective cross-border financing structures. He has also assisted in the defense of a number of large Canada Revenue Agency income tax audits, in obtaining advanced income tax rulings, and in the review of tax provision computations.
Jason graduated from the University of Calgary with a BCom in 1994, and earned his CA designation in 1997. He has been a leader for both the group study and in-residence components of levels I and II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth Tax Courses. Jason co-authored a foreign affiliate update article that was published in the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society journal and has presented at various seminars.
