Jason Swales is a partner in the Tax Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Toronto office. Jason specializes in providing Canadian income tax advice for Canadian-based and foreign clients in the financial services industry, including multinational insurance companies and private equity firms.
With more than 11 years of tax advisory experience, Jason provides his clients with insightful advice on Canadian and international tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, corporate finance, derivative investments and tax accounting under Canadian and US GAAP. Jason was previously a senior tax manager at Nortel Networks where he was involved in a number of special projects, including divestitures, treasury operations and manufacturing and supply outsourcing.
Jason is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He received his LLB in 1995 from the University of Western Ontario, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1997. He also holds a B.Com and Economics from McMaster University. He has spoken on a variety of tax matters at the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association and the Tax Executives Institute.
