James leads PwC Canada’s Utilities practice and also leads the Energy, Utilities and Resources Consulting practice. He is passionate about working collaboratively across all industries to solve the problems of today that will enable a successful Energy Transition tomorrow.

James has worked with executive teams internationally over 20+ years across a wide range of clients both in the private and public sector. He led clients through numerous high profile growth, cost, operational excellence and disruptive digital transformations building capability and delivering sustained outcomes to reframed problems. During his 17 years with PwC, he has worked both in Canada and the UK leading the growth of our consulting capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic and supporting clients around the globe.

Prior to joining PwC, James held leadership roles in manufacturing operations & supply chain in the Chemicals and Consumer Goods Sectors. Most notably, James led the turnaround of a large manufacturing site globally. The people-focused operational excellence journey culminated with a string of prestigious industry awards, including IMechE’s MX award for Manufacturing Effectiveness and Factory of the year award.

James is now investing in the next generation of talent as a sessional lecturer at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business, teaching a practical operations and supply chain consulting course.

Outside of work he is the proud and busy father of 4 very active boys. James, his wife Louise and the boys love to ski, bike and enjoy all the wonders that Canada has to offer.

James is deeply committed to inclusion and diversity in all its forms, including mental health and is a vocal promoter of reducing stigma and sharing his own experience of living and working with bipolar disorder.
