James Merkosky is a partner in the Tax Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP working in the Edmonton office. He specializes in income taxation.
James has more than 15 years of experience and works with individuals and private and public companies on a variety of tax matters. He helps his clients with Canadian and US personal tax, US trust and estate issues, tax planning for US and Canadian real estate, cross-boarder tax compliance and executive compensation planning issues.
James graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BCom in 1990. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1993, he began specializing in income tax in 1995. He is currently a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan.
James has delivered numerous presentations on a variety of US and Canadian tax matters, including recent presentations to the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (S.T.E.P.) on the ownership of US real estate.
James is a member of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Federal Provincial Finance Committee and has been instrumental in formulating responses on behalf of the Committee and the Chamber to the government on tax policy. He also serves as the Treasurer of the Old Strathcona Youth Society and is a coach for various minor sports organizations.
