Emma Purdy is a Tax partner at PwC Canada and works in the firm's Toronto office.
Before she joined PwC in November 2008, she worked as an independent consultant. In addition to designing cross border pricing policies, her consulting experience included establishing the internal transfer pricing function within multinational companies and developing the related business processes, procedures and training.
Emma spent seven years as a partner at another large professional services firm where she assisted companies with transfer pricing planning, documentation, audit management and dispute resolution engagements. She has also helped clients integrate transfer pricing into their business strategies and processes and advised them on restructuring opportunities.
In 1992, Emma started in transfer pricing with the Canada Revenue Agency for three years. As an international tax auditor, she performed audits of cross border transactions and was involved with transfer pricing training development.
In 2014, Emma was named one of the top 30 Transfer Pricing Advisors in the World by Euromoney's Best of the Best Expert Guide.
Emma is a CA and has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto. She speaks regularly on transfer pricing topics for a number of professional organizations and has written articles on transfer pricing for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Tax Management and the Journal of International Taxation. Emma has appeared in the Guide to the World’s Leading Transfer Pricing Advisers since 1999.
