Elizabeth Johnson was formerly the chair of Wilson and Partners LLP, which has combined forces with another PwC affiliated law firm in Canada. The firm operates under the new name PwC Law LLP and Elizabeth is co-chair of the firm.
Her practice covers a wide range of business income tax matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and cross-border structuring. She is a recognized expert on Canadian partnership taxation and Canada's anti-avoidance rules. She is recognized in Lexpert and in Chambers Global Directory as a leading Canadian tax practitioner.
Elizabeth joined the firm as a partner in March, 2003 and prior to that, she was a partner in a major national Canadian law firm for many years.
Elizabeth has spoken and written extensively on a range of tax subjects, including partnership taxation, corporate finance, international financing structures, interest deductibility and tax avoidance. She is the co-author of Understanding the Taxation of Partnerships (5th Edition) and of several recent articles in the Canadian Tax Journal on international tax planning subjects.
Elizabeth is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association. She has served on the CBA-CICA joint committee on taxation. She received a LLB from the University of Toronto (1977) and an LLM from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts (1978).
