Eleanor Joy is an associate partner in the Deals practice of PwC Canada working in the Vancouver office.

Eleanor has specialized in valuations and dispute analysis for the past 25 years. As a senior member of the team, she oversees a wide variety of assignments. Eleanor is focused on providing business and asset valuation advice in a variety of contexts including corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, tax and estate planning, shareholder transactions, strategic business decisions and financial reporting. She has worked extensively for clients in the forest, paper and packaging industry. She has qualified as an expert witness and given evidence in the BC Supreme Court and in a number of arbitration hearings.

Between 2006 and 2013, Eleanor served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (“CICBV”), including being the Chair of the CICBV’s Board in 2011-2012.

Since November 2011, Eleanor has been a member of the working group of the Advisory Forum to the International Valuation Standards Council.

Eleanor was the recipient of the Association of Women in Finance 2009 PEAK Award in the Knowledge & Leadership category.

In June 2012, Eleanor was awarded a Fellowship Designation (FCBV) by the CICBV for her significant contributions to the Business Valuation Profession.

Recent assignments:

  • Expert report and testimony at an arbitration hearing, involving a dispute in the forest industry in British Columbia
  • Valuation analysis to assist majority shareholders in negotiations for buy-out of minority shareholders in a privately-held group of real estate investment companies
  • Comprehensive valuation report of a large privately-held group of companies for financing purposes in order to complete significant acquisition
  • Expert report relating to the value of timberland assets in British Columbia
