David Loewen is a Tax Services partner in the Winnipeg office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He is also leader of the High Net Worth Services group.
David’s experience including personal tax planning and compliance, executive compensation, estate and succession planning, corporate tax planning and reorganizations, shareholders' agreements, purchase and sale of businesses and effective use of life insurance in tax and estate planning.
David has acted as a tax advisor to varying clients including automobile and equipment dealers, trucking, manufacturing, construction, service industry, credit unions, investment and venture capital companies, retail and distribution. He is a frequent advisor to small- and medium-sized, privately owned corporations including family-owned businesses and holding companies. He has also advised on indirect tax matters including the GST, HST, PST and QST.
David qualified as a CA in 1981 after joining the firm in 1978 upon graduation from the University of Manitoba with a BCom (Honours). He has specialized in taxation since 1980 and was admitted to partnership in 1988.
In addition, David has spoken extensively on tax matters including seminars on tax and succession planning. He has presented a paper on the capital gains exemption at the Prairie Provinces Tax Conference of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
David is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is has been an active member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce for many years, including participation on the board of directors and the executive committee as treasurer and vice president.
