Betty Cohen is the partner in charge of Linguistic Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's Montreal office.
Betty manages a team of 35 people striving to meet the needs of the firms' audit and assurance clients, as well as internal clients. In addition to budget planning and coaching module and project managers, she oversees relations with internal and external clients. She works closely with the firm's various lines of service to uphold the highest linguistic standards in French and English.
Betty is a certified translator with a focus on finance, insurance, economics, and business communications. Prior to joining the firm, she acquired more than 20 years of experience as a translator, terminologist and manager in both Quebec and France.
Betty holds a specialized bachelor's degree as well as a master's degree in translation from the University of Montreal, together with a master's degree (DEA) in linguistics from the University of Paris XIII (France).
Betty is very active in her professional community. In particular, she conducts translation training sessions and manages translation projects for the Quebec Order of Certified Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters (OTTIAQ). Among her many accomplishments, she took steps to have translation recognized as one of the 43 professions regulated by Quebec's Office des professions in 1992. In tribute to her many achievements with OTTIAQ, she was presented with the Quebec Interprofessional Council's Merit award in 2000 and was made a member of honour in 2004. She is also the author of Lexique de cooccurrents - Bourse et conjoncture économique, the very first phrase-based lexicon in the field of economics.
