Alain Dugal is the Financial Institution Services leader in the Quebec office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He is a member of the PwC Canadian board of partners.
Throughout his career, Alain has played a key role in the implementation of new audit methodologies based on controls relating to the complex systems used by financial institutions. He has led audit engagements for various private and public companies in sectors such as life/property/casualty insurance, banking, securities brokerage and mutual funds.
Alain obtained his BA (Accounting) from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in 1981 and became a CA in 1983. He joined PwC’s Montréal office in 1981. From 1987 to 1989, he worked in the Geneva, Switzerland, office as part of an international manager exchange program.
From 1994 to 1998, Alain was national co-leader of the Life Insurance Industry Services group. He also served as Leader of the Financial Institutions Industry Services group for Quebec from 1998 to 2010, and again from 2012. He was admitted to partnership of PwC in 1994, and was also a member of the firm’s Canadian Partnership Board from 2003 to 2007.
As a lecturer at Université du Québec à Montréal, Alain taught financial and cost accounting from 1983 to 1987.
Alain is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés (CPA) du Québec and its board of directors. In 2013, he was elected a Fellow (FCPA) of the Ordre des CPA du Québec. This prestigious honour officially recognizes the Order members who have demonstrated exceptional professional dedication or have gained recognition for career or community achievements that have brought distinction to the profession.
