Basic Pension Benefits
The distribution of pension benefits to members, who earned pension benefits in provinces other than Quebec, occurred in November 2011 and July 2012. There are a still small number of members who have not received their pension benefits from the Plan, including those who worked in the province of Quebec. The Administrator is awaiting regulatory approval to distribute the pension benefits of Quebec plan members. At this time, we cannot estimate when the regulatory approval to distribute pension benefits to Quebec plan members will be granted. We will correspond with Quebec plan members regarding the timing of the distribution of pension benefits from the plan once regulatory approval is received.
Prior Partial Wind-Ups of the Plan
The Plan was partially wound-up on several occasions, including as a result of the closures of the Brantford, Ontario Manufacturing Plant on July 20, 1990, the Windsor, Ontario Branch on September 28, 1990, both of Fruehauf Canada, and the closure of the Ingersoll, Ontario Manufacturing Plan of Trailmobile Canada on January 25, 1993 (collectively the "Partial Wind-Ups").
Surplus assets were distributed to located members who were affected by the closures of the Brantford, Windsor and Ingersoll locations. There are a number of members whose surplus remains unpaid from the Plan due to missing current address information. If you believe that you are entitled to surplus that has not been paid, please contact our office.
