PwC recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in 2013

TORONTO, October 10, 2012—PwC was selected by Mediacorp Canada Inc. as one of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers in 2013, marking the ninth consecutive year PwC has been selected for this prominent award. This award follows PwC’s most recent recognition in 2012 as one of the Top Employers for Young People and the Top Employers for New Canadians.

Some of the current programs making PwC one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers include:

Company-wide communications - To help keep employees connected, PwC offers several ways to keep staff in touch. This ranges from in person office-wide ‘town-hall’ updates, informal gatherings such as coffee breaks or quarterly meetings, to electronic newsletters, blogs and in-house social networking sites and virtual suggestion boxes.
Training and development – PwC recognizes that formal learning (classroom, e-learn) is only one part of the solution and strives to create programs that are designed to engage employees. PwC employs a teach-don’t-tell approach to learning through frequent coaching and job shadowing. The firm also supports and hosts in-house training programs and encourages people to obtain professional designations by providing financial and non-financial support for program registration fees, exam fees, materials, course fees, and ongoing memberships.
Rewards and recognition – Team work and celebrating team successes is an integral part of the PwC experience. Employees can be rewarded through various incentive programs, including “Acclaim” points, spotlight bonuses, and the CEO Award, which is a nomination-based program presented to individuals and teams who achieve outstanding results and are role models for living the PwC behaviours.
Community involvement – With the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation, PwC hosts more than 300 Team Volunteering events that see s over 2,300 people (on average over 40% of our total firm population) take advantage of one paid day off to volunteer in the community. Also, each year the firm hosts Green Week, which is an internal celebration of sustainability and the importance of corporate responsibility.
Flexible work schedules – PwC supports non-traditional ways of working, which encourages employees to balance their personal and professional goals. Achieving this balance enables employees to be more creative, adaptive and effective in the way they work. Flexible options at PwC include the ability for people to work remotely from home, the Flexible Fridays program where staff is eligible to shorten their Friday schedule during the summer, and offering programs that cater to working parents and their families.

First published in 2001, the Canada's Top Employers for Young People competition is organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. The employers on this list are Canada's leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations. Each employer is evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers in terms of the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These include benefits such as tuition assistance and the availability of co-op or work-study programs. Before 2007, this competition was published annually as an appendix to the Canada's Top 100 Employers paperback.
