PwC recognized as one of the Top Employers for Young People in 2012

TORONTO, September 25, 2012—For the fourth consecutive year, PwC was selected by Mediacorp Canada Inc. as one of the Top Employers for Young People.  This award follows PwC’s most recent recognition in 2012 as one of Canada’s Best Employers for New Canadians and Canada’s Top 100 Employers, which represents the eighth consecutive year PwC has been selected for this prestigious award.

Invested in its employees, some of the current programs making PwC one of the Top Employers for Young People include:

• Flexible work schedules – PwC supports non-traditional ways of working, which encourages employees to balance their personal and professional goals. Achieving this balance enables employees to be more creative, adaptive and effective in the way they work. Flexible options at PwC include the ability for people to work remotely from home, the Flexible Fridays program where staff is eligible to shorten their Friday schedule during the summer, and offering programs to working mothers and their families, which include reduced working hours and offsite work arrangements.
• Training & development – PwC training and development programs recognize that formal learning (classroom, e-learn) is only one part of the solution, with one-on-one coaching, mentoring, and practical experience comprising a significant part of the overall development experience. PwC also supports and hosts in-house training programs and encourages people to obtain professional designations by providing financial and non-financial support for program registration fees, exam fees, materials, course fees, and ongoing memberships.
• Global mobility- Employees looking to broaden their experience abroad can approach PwC’s Global Mobility team to secure either short or long-term international opportunities. International secondments range from a few weeks to six months.
• Community involvement – With the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation, PwC hosts more than 300 Team Volunteering events that see over 2,300 people (on average over 40% of our total firm population) take advantage of one paid day off to volunteer in the community. Also, each year the firm hosts Green Week, which is an internal celebration of sustainability and the importance of corporate responsibility.
• Company-wide communications – To help keep employees connected, PwC uses technology to share information and offer several ways to keep in touch, from traditional emails and electronic newsletters to blogs, in-house social networking sites and virtual suggestion boxes.  

First published in 2001, the Canada's Top Employers for Young People competition is organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. The employers on this list are Canada's leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations. Each employer is evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers in terms of the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These include benefits such as tuition assistance and the availability of co-op or work-study programs. Before 2007, this competition was published annually as an appendix to the Canada's Top 100 Employers paperback.
