March 9, 2010 — For more than 10 years, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) has provided a window on Canada’s IPO market. Annual, semi-annual and quarterly surveys have tracked IPOs completed on Canada’s stock exchanges by volume, value and sector to form statistical overviews of market activity.
Now PwC has summarized the surveys with a 10-year report, The Canadian IPO Market – Decade in Review. The past decade has been undeniably turbulent, with extreme highs and lows, the rise and fall of new markets and new equity models. As the first quarter of this new decade draws to a close, PwC hopes a review of the last decade will help to put current activity into perspective.
The Canadian IPO Market – Decade in Review also introduces our new National IPO Services leader. Neil Manji takes over from Ross Sinclair, who has assumed new responsibilities within the firm. Neil is a partner with PwC’s Audit and Assurance group in the GTA. He specializes primarily in the Consumer and Industrial Products sector with a focus on public companies. Neil has extensive experience with initial public offerings, the prospectus process and getting companies ready for life before and after an IPO. He’s worked on numerous acquisitions, divestitures and debt offerings in both Canada and the U.S. and has international experience through his secondment to PwC in Switzerland.
