Online magazine provides access to information and resources tailored to help Alberta businesses achieve success

June 1, 2009 — To help Alberta companies yield savings and realize lasting value in a challenging economic environment, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) today announced the launch of Doing Business in Alberta, an online magazine that offers resources and practical steps for success.

  • Doing Business in Alberta is an online magazine issued quarterly.
  • It provides access to regional-specific advice and information for Alberta companies on the current business issues they face.
  • Includes articles, reports, publications, videos and podcasts for a variety of industries.

"The world has changed for businesses in Alberta," says Ray Crossley, managing partner for PwC in Calgary. "While many Alberta companies are optimistic about opportunities in the marketplace, they are also grappling with how the current absence of liquidity and universal belt-tightening will impact their overall performance. As a result, we saw a need for more resources tailored to our Alberta clients that provide ways to successfully navigate the rough waters and emerge ahead of the pack."

Barry James, PwC's managing partner in Edmonton agrees: "By providing access to PwC's deep experience in all of the major industries and market segments via the new Doing Business in Alberta magazine, we are capitalizing on the optimism we are seeing in Alberta and giving our clients a central place to locate valuable advice that will put them in a better spot for the long-haul."

Indeed, a recent April 2009 PwC survey conducted by Leger Marketing found that private companies in Alberta have become more optimistic and 60% believe that market conditions will improve a year from now. Key content in the first issue of the magazine focuses on operational effectiveness. For instance, In Brief*, a regular PwC Alberta publication, highlights how when economic recovery starts to happen it could speed up relatively quickly and companies must be well positioned to be prepared for the upturn.

Future issues of Doing Business in Alberta will provide guidance and resources such as articles, reports, publications, videos, podcasts and services information for Alberta companies in all sectors.
